Abstract:
The permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is most commonly used machine in high-efficiency electric drives. High efficiency can be achieved by optimization of PMSM construction and by appropriate control algorithm which achieves the optimal working point conditions, where the most used algorithm is the Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA). This paper compares different methods of approximating the MTPA trajectory and corresponding impact on joule losses within the analyzed PMSM.
